For the past 21 years, Dutch artist Theo Jansen has devoted himself to constructing animals that can walk on the beach powered only by the wind.

Theo Jansen (born 1948) is a Dutch artist.  In 1990, he began building large mechanisms out of PVC that are able to move on their own, known oas Strandbeest, which means “beach animals” in Dutch.  His animated works are intended to be a fusion of art and engineering.  Theo believes that "The walls between art and engineering exist only in our minds."   Music: "Spartacus_Ballet Suite No. 2: Adagio" by The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Yuri Temirkanov.
